Can this surface be wrapped?

Most smooth, sound, stable surfaces can be wrapped. The answer changes with the material and its condition, so here is how KWrap looks at each one. If in doubt, send a photo on WhatsApp or see what KWrap wraps.

Usually yes

• Laminate and melamine doors: the most common kitchen surface and one of the best to wrap.
• High-gloss doors: wrap well once degreased, and are often turned matt.
• Painted doors: yes if the paint is sound and not flaking.
• Peeling vinyl-wrapped doors: the old skin is removed, the door is prepared and new film is fitted. See kitchen door re-wrapping.
• Laminate worktops: yes, including round sinks and hobs, but the result is not heatproof.
• uPVC window frames and doors: yes, with exterior-grade film on outside faces. See window frame wrapping.
• Wardrobe and furniture fronts: yes, if flat and solid.

It depends

• Wood veneer and solid wood: often yes if sealed, stable and dry. Heavily grained or moving timber is checked first.
• Smooth tiles: walls outside the shower can be wrapped; deep grout lines may show through.
• Metal panels: lift interiors and metal doors are wrapped with architectural film, after cleaning and the right preparation.
• Heavily profiled doors: deep mouldings can be wrapped, but take longer and are judged door by door.

Usually no, or not yet

• Swollen chipboard around the sink or dishwasher, until the panel is repaired or replaced.
• Surfaces inside a shower that take direct water.
• Glass doors and splashbacks, which need different products.
• Surfaces right beside strong heat, unless a heat shield can be fitted.
