How to clean and care for a wrapped kitchen
A wrapped kitchen is easy to look after if you treat it like a good laminate: gentle cleaners, no scouring and no direct heat. This guide covers the day-to-day. For the service itself, see kitchen wrapping by KWrap.

Everyday cleaning
Use warm soapy water or a mild, non-abrasive cleaner on a soft cloth, then dry with a clean cloth. That is all most doors and panels need. Wipe from the middle of a door outwards rather than rubbing hard along the edges, where the film is wrapped round.
What to avoid
- Scouring pads and cream cleaners, which can dull or scratch the surface.
- Solvents such as acetone, white spirit and nail polish remover.
- Bleach sprays and strong degreasers used neat. If you need a degreaser near the hob, dilute it and rinse.
- Steam cleaners aimed at doors or edges.
Heat and steam
Heat is the main enemy of any vinyl surface. Keep the kettle out from under wall cupboards so steam does not hit the same edge every day, and let the oven door close before leaning on the doors next to it. Range cookers and some built-in ovens give off enough heat to need a heat shield on the panel beside them, and this is checked at the survey.
Wrapped worktops are not heatproof. Use trivets or pan stands for hot pans and baking trays, and a chopping board rather than cutting on the surface. More on this in the worktop wrapping guide.
Water
Wipe up standing water, especially along the sink edge and the front edge of the worktop. Those are sealed during the wrap, but water left sitting on any joint is best avoided. Dishwasher steam is another reason to open the dishwasher once the cycle has cooled rather than straight away.
If something lifts
A small lift at an edge is easiest to fix early, before dirt gets under it. Do not glue it yourself; get in touch with KWrap with a photo. The work carries a 2-year guarantee.
Questions
Can I use antibacterial spray on a wrapped kitchen?
A mild antibacterial kitchen spray wiped off with a damp cloth is fine for most films. Avoid bleach-based sprays and anything that says it is for ovens or descaling.
Will hot cups mark a wrapped worktop?
A warm mug will not, but hot pans, baking trays and very hot dishes can. Use a trivet or coaster for anything straight from the hob or oven.
