KWrap know-how / What happens on kitchen wrapping day
What happens on kitchen wrapping day
Most kitchens are wrapped in a day or two. Here is what the work looks like, start to finish, so you know what to expect. The full service is on the KWrap kitchen wrapping page.

Step by step
- Protection. Floors and worktops are covered where the work happens.
- Handles off. Handles and any fittings in the way are removed and kept safe.
- Preparation. Every surface is cleaned and degreased. Chips and dents are filled and sanded flat so they do not show through.
- Wrapping. Film is laid on each door, drawer front and panel, heated and stretched round the edges and corners.
- Post-heating. Edges are heated again so the film holds its new shape.
- Handles back on. The old handles, or new ones, are fitted.
- Clean up. Offcuts are taken away and the kitchen is left clean and ready to use.
What stays working
Nothing is disconnected. The sink, hob, oven, fridge and dishwasher stay where they are and stay working, though the area being wrapped needs to be clear while the work happens there.
What you can do to help
- Clear the worktops before the day.
- Keep pets and children out of the room while film and tools are out.
- Ask KWrap beforehand if anything else needs clearing for your kitchen.
Afterwards
The kitchen can be used as normal once the work is finished. For the first few days, avoid steam right on fresh edges and follow the care guide.
Questions
Is wrapping noisy or dusty?
Far less than a refit. There is a heat gun and light sanding of filled chips, but no demolition, cutting of carcasses or skips.
Do I need to be home?
Someone needs to let the team in and agree the details at the start. Many people carry on working from home while the kitchen is wrapped.
